Sea Ray

Sea Ray, the biggest manufacturer of high-quality pleasure boats in the world, has built over 40 models sized 17-60 feet. Its product line is divided into four categories: sport boats, sport cruisers, sport yachts, and yachts, with the average age of the models being just 1.4 years.

Sea Ray began in 1959 as Ray Industries, an independent company founded by C.N. Ray in Detroit, Michigan. In 1986, it was acquired for $350 million by the Brunswick Boat Group, a division of the Brunswick Corporation, the biggest maker of boats and marine engines in the world.

Brunswick’s ownership gives Sea Ray access to the people and resources needed to constantly innovate. Sea Ray became one of the first to use fiberglass and other composite materials in building boats, and was also a pioneer of the molded-in swim platform. Sea Ray also has the so-called Next Wave initiative, which has led to the development of novel technologies, such as Quiet Ride™, Dynamic Running Surface™, SkyFlow™ Design, and Concealed Outboard Propulsion™.

In addition, Sea Ray was the first pleasure boat manufacturer to receive an ISO 9002 certification. Its boats also exceed the standards set by the US Coast Guard, the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC), and the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA).

Sea Ray is based in Knoxville, Tennessee, with two factories in Tennessee and another two in Florida. This company also has one of the highest customer satisfaction ratings in the world and its boats have top resale value.
